Saturday, October 20th - FireStomp 2012 Fire Recovery ConcertOct 20, 2012
MudStomp Records, a central Oklahoma music label, is partnering with the SIAME Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting arts, music, and entertainment, to hold the FireStomp 2012 Fire Recovery Concert to be held at the Creek County Fairgrounds in Kellyville, OK. The event will take place on October 20, 2012, and will last from 1:00 pm until midnight. The purpose of the event will be to raise donations to aid the August 2012 Oklahoma fire victims from the Mannford area. This day-long music festival will feature eight musical acts. There will be free admission, but contributions to the Wildfire Victim's Fund will be taken at the gate. Food and beverages will be available at the event.
The festival will feature Red Dirt and Mudstomp artists, as well as bands from both the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas. The line up includes: Burlap Tuxedo from Oklahoma City, Grass Crack from Tulsa, The Whistle Pigs from Missouri, Mountain Sprout from Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Randy Crouch from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and The Red Dirt Rangers, from Stillwater, OK. Joe Mack, editor of the Current Magazine in Tahlequah, will helm as Master of Ceremonies. Mack will also perform a set with Carter Sampson. Ken Morrow, from Medicine Park, OK, will perform solo between sets.
Contributions from the benefit will be forwarded to the Mannford Chamber of Commerce, who will then distribute the funds to residents in the process of rebuilding. The funds will be used to obtain electrical and sewer hook-ups, and help purchase home appliances for those with the greatest needs.
For those that cannot attend the event but would still like to contribute, MudStomp Records has launched a campaign on the crowd-funding website Indiegogo.com, to make it possible for anyone to make contributions to the Wildfire Victim's Fund. Links to this campaign can be found on the FireStomp 2012 Fire Recovery Concert Event page on Facebook.
