Health and nutrition can sometimes take a backseat during tough economic times. For people living with diabetes, that can quickly become a matter of life or death. On March 23, help is available as the Eastern Oklahoma Office of the American Diabetes Association hosts a FREE event in Tulsa to give health screenings, consultations and diabetes information to hundreds of Oklahomans. The screenings begin at 7:30 a.m. Come fasting, and the first 75 attendees will receive free cholesterol screenings until 10:00, complete with a report card to discuss with medical experts!

The Living With Diabetes Health and Wellness Fair is a one-stop source for information on the latest products, free health screenings and the chance to discuss your test results with medical experts. Listen to a presentation by Dr. Raphael C. Francisco and learn the “Top Ten Secrets to Eating Healthy” from My Fit Foods and enjoy hot food samples.

Diabetes affects more than 420,000 Oklahomans and more than 150,000 others have the disease but are undiagnosed and at great risk for developing diabetes-related complications. With the number of diabetes cases nationwide increasing 90 percent over the past decade, diabetes is the fastest-growing disease in America.
